Vegas Vegan Food Tour Experience

While on vacation recently, I had the opportunity to attend my first ever food tour which was a vegan food tour in downtown Las Vegas. The tour last three hours and consisted of visiting five restaurants and eating twelve different food items.Below are photos from the food tour organized by Diana at Vegans Baby website. This tour was very enjoyable and I'd definitely recommend this tour for veg-curious, vegetarians, vegans and overall foodies.

Attending Anahiem Vegan Faire 2018

I recently attended the 5th Annual Vegan Faire in Anaheim, California on Saturday, July 28th. I am always happy to be able to attend such festivals, discover new vegan food vendors and see fellow vegans and vegan curious people. Here are some photos from my day at the Vegan Faire.

Celebrating 12 years of marriage!

It seems like only yesterday that my and my hubby got marriage, not twelve years ago. This past Sunday, we celebrated 12 years of marriage and since we're planning a big anniversary trip next month, we decided to have low key celebration by going to a used book and then we went to see the new Incredibles 2 movie. Overall, it was a great day and I'm glad to have a husband who supports me in everything I do. I big part of being married as long as we have is by constantly compromising, communicating often and making decisions which will benefits both people in the relationship, not only one person. I'm excited to see what the future holds for us!

Race Recap: Rock N Roll San Diego Half Marathon

Earlier this month, I ran my second Rock n Roll 1/2 marathon race for the year in San Diego. The course was a good mix of flat and hilly and the neighborhood course support was fabulous. Here are some photos from race day.

Race Recap: T9 Mermaid Run East Bay Virtual 5K

A couple of months ago, I signed up to complete the mermaid series T9 Mermaid Run East Bay on Saturday, May 12. Since I was working on that day, me and a friend decided to complete the run on the next day on Mother's Day. Since it was a virtual race, the race swag was sent prior to race day and it was pretty cool since in addition to the usual race swag of a shirt, bib and medal, it also included a necklace. Overall, it was a great day for a run and it was even better since I completed the virtual with my friend/co-worker.

Showing southern hospitality to our east coast friends moving to the west

One of our favorite podcasts to listen to is Black Love Matters which is hosted by a married couple (Niram & Niambi) and focuses on love between black culture as well as black love stories. We have been long time listeners of the show and have even bought shirts to show our support.
Hubby and me showing love for Black Love Matters podcast

Last year, my friend from the 300poundsandrunning podcast came to California for work for a week during which time we jokingly called each other cousin since we have the same last name. As we hung out, he mentioned that it would be cool if he could move out to Cali versus where he was living (which was New England.) Fast forward to now and God blessed his spouse with a job in Silicon Valley. Being that I'm originally from Alabama, of course we had to show them some southern hospitality when they arrived in Cali.

We introduced took Niram & Niambi to the transit system as well as eating at one of our favorite vegan restaurants (Loving Hut at San Francisco Westfield Mall) as well as giving them a tour of the Bay Area including Fisherman's Wharf and the Martin Luther King Jr. Monument. We had an awesome time and are happy to become friends with a new married couple who are similar to us.

Den's excited that since Niram is into exercise and fitness, I now have a running buddy that I can do races with which will be fun for me as well. I'm excited because while me and Niram and running races, Den and Niambi can hang out and relax. We look forward to visiting them more often as they get settled and introducing them to all the wonderful things that Cali has to offer.

Celebrating my 39th birthday and Rock N Roll San Francisco 1/2 Marathon Recap

Yesterday, I celebrated my 39th birthday and did so by running the Rock N Roll San Francisco 1/2 Marathon. I actually started celebrating on Thursday by getting a free birthday pretzel from Auntie Anne's then going to see a one night showing of the plant based movie "Eating You Alive." This was a wonderful film and I can't wait for this movie to be available for sale to the public.

This Sunday, I ran my first half marathon for the year which was the Rock N Roll San Francisco 1/2 Marathon. I picked up my bib for the race on Saturday and I stopped by Ike's to enjoy a free birthday sandwich followed by stopping at Loving Hut for a slice of Oreo Chocolate Cake for my birthday.

Sunday was the day of the half marathon and although it was a tough run at times, I was happy to complete it and was surprised to see a running buddy while running the race. Overall, it was a great weekend and a birthday overall.
